Mr. Cruz joined the United States Army in 1995 and upon his return home in 1997 he was hired as a security monitor for a contracted facility for the Federal Bureau of Prison (BOP). Mr. Cruz continued to serve in the Active Ready Army Reserve from 1995-2004. In 2004 he was promoted to Facility Director and assigned to the Mid-Valley House Residential Re-Entry Center. In this role Mr. Cruz oversees the day to day operations to include budget management, safety, security, ACA, PREA, offender grievance resolution, transportation, and food service operations. His work experience includes operational management and oversight of a co-ed halfway house, community corrections, and residential re-entry centers for both state and federal government agencies. He has worked with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a Quality Control Service and Compliance Manager in which he oversaw compliance for PREA/ACA and National Detention Standards for all detention centers. CSG hired Mr. Cruz in 2016 as the Facility Administrator to operate a co-ed facility for Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). He is an active board member with Angels of Love, as well as a member of the Texas Correctional Associations and American Correctional Association. The Edinburg Reentry Center (ETC) is currently ACA and PREA certified due to his leadership and efforts.
Miriam Ruiz graduated from the University of Texas at Brownsville with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and an Associate's in Business Administration in May 2014. Ms. Ruiz began her career as an intern at a residential reentry center contracted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Upon completing her internship, Ms. Ruiz was hired as a Program Monitor 1. In 2016 Ms. Ruiz was hired as the bookkeeper for the Edinburg Reentry Center and handled billing, payroll, new hires, employee training, and compliance with TDCJ and PREA. She was promoted to Chief of Security at ERC due to her invaluable leadership initiatives. When she's not overseeing the daily operations of the facility, Ms. Ruiz volunteers her time by helping the Rio Grande Valley community, Feast of Sharing, Edinburg Food Drive, beach cleanup, and was a board member for Angels of Love.
